If it somehow happened that the esteemed Jens Lekman managed to make a baby with the (entombed) Ian Curtis, I think what we would end up with is, not only a freak miracle of science and a story that would be covered in the kinds of tabloid magazines we don’t admit to reading, but also an artist would be born that approaches the style of John Edward Donald aka The Human Elephant. And we don’t dabble with such forces lightly, it’s only very seldom that we would cross breed two (male) musicians, but in this case we feel it necessary, and if you cant play god to create a pop-star or two, then why bother being a god in the first place?
The Human Elephant has just put together his first full length LP, released under the noble brand of Mexican net-label Umor Rex. The title is White Thunder and hopefully will serve as a pleasant introduction for you if you’ve never been acquainted with this chap at all before. Playing numbers from the release for us here in Berlin with a show at Kater Holzig, he’ll be supported on the night by New Zealand experimental free jazz stick-fighting thing Orchestra Of Spheres.
